Back to School & a Freebie!

My poor little blog is feeling a little neglected right now!   The week before school is always busy and this past week was no different!  With in-service meetings, workshops, Meet the Teacher night, and planning the first week, it's no wonder my little blog is feeling lonely!

Meet the Teacher night was a success!   Most of my little angels showed up with bright smiles on their face ready to start a new year!

First I want to share a few pictures of my classroom.....

Table group numbers

Calendar/Morning Meeting area
(The blank area at the bottom is for our skip counting flash cards and daily schedule cards!)
It includes my daily graphing question, birthdays, days of the week, months of the year, shapes, colors, calendar, helpers, weather and weather graphing, and to the bottom right is my dismissal chart.)

I will get close up pictures this week!

This is our Reading Center board.  The top five posters include the center, which will have student clips that will rotate each day.  The bottom strategy posters are a freebie from Hope King!  (They are adorable!)

I will get more pictures this week..... and *hopefully* post sometime this week!  (If I'm still awake when I get home!)

Below is my Meet the Teacher class information packet.  Students and parents will find this on their desk when they arrive, among other important school documents and forms!

Now onto the important things.... the actual activities and lessons for this week!

Some of my favorite books to read at the beginning of the year are "Chrysanthemum" and "The Kissing Hand".

Below is a little craftivity that I put together for "Chrysanthemum".   After we read the story, we discuss how each of our names are unique!   After making our craftivity, we will hang them up on the board and see just how different and unique our names are!

You can click on the picture above or {HERE} for a FREE copy of this little craft!

We will also be reading "The Kissing Hand" which is also a favorite back to school book!  We all feel nervous, happy, scared, worried, sad, and every other emotion on the first day of school (including us teachers!)

After we read the story, we will fill in our feelings activity sheet:

..... then we will complete it with an adorable craft!

Alright.... off to make sure I have everything else ready for tomorrow!

Hope everyone else has a great first day (if you haven't already started!)

Five For Friday {8.9.13}

Friday is normally a GREAT day {right?!} but in the summer, it just means that another is week is over....and school is that much closer!

BUT.... Five For Friday is back with Doodle Bugs!  So I'm linking up with my five *random* things from this week!

{#1}

I live in Texas....and let me tell you....it is H.O.T. SCORCHING!  I know it's summer, so I should expect and even be used to it by now, but who can get used to 105 degrees everyday?!  So we have to find a way to cool down!  Beside the air conditioner, water is our new best friend!

{#2}

Please tell me I'm not the only one....but I'm a *little* obsessed with Shark Week!  And I'm a little sad it's coming to an end!  (So glad it happens during the summer so I can watch all of the shows!)  And yes....I watch all of the re-runs!  They never get old!

{#3}

So this guy below is getting his party on this weekend!  Little M turns the big ONE next week, so we are celebrating his birthday this weekend!  Seriously....one year already over!  (sniff sniff)
He is walking around everywhere and his little personality just makes me melt!

{#4}

Walmart got a few extra bucks from me recently....seeing as the school supplies were calling my name!  So I stocked up on just a few!

{#5}

I also finished my latest unit "Fun With Numbers!"  This correlates with my "Fun with the Alphabet" packet.  Both packets have 5 centers included and are perfect for a 1st grade review at the beginning of the year or great for your kinder kiddos!

You can snag your FREE center by clicking below!

And there you have it!  Now go link up for your random five!

Vacation is Over....Back to Work

If you think summer flies by....try going on vacation!  The past 5 days literally flew!

Our little family of four decided we were in need for a little get-away!

Since we were taking both boys, we needed somewhere with FUN!

So we started our little trip with Sea World!

(Do you see that look?  That looks says " My dear sweet wife that I love.....put the camera away NOW!")

...and it was H.O.T.  (105 degrees to be exact!)

With an 11 month old.... it's rough!  (I'll be honest!)

But we had tons of fun and saw the shows and spent WAY too much money on bottled water and lunch!

The next day we just spent our day in San Antonio and walked down the Riverwalk and visited the Alamo....

But the last day was our FAVORITE!  We drove down to Padre Island......

This was the first trip to the beach for both boys!

(This was the FIRST time Little M felt the sand and water!   I know he will NEVER remember this....but sooo cute)

*** Little M might have eaten about a pound of sand!  We could not keep it away from him!  So big brother was so kind to *rinse* him off very frequently! ***

We could have stayed here *forever*!  It was so peaceful (even if I was cleaning sand out Little M's mouth all day!)

Jaxon keeps asking to go back!  I'm sure we could make a life on the beach!  (couldn't we all?!)

We got back to the hotel in record time....thanks to my sweet husband who drove a *little* fast!

I promise he did not drive 100 the entire way!  But I had to get a picture of this..... my oh my!
(Do you see the temp?  103?)  The air conditioner was definitely our friend!

So.... vacation is over which means its back to work!  I needed one last day of rest (today!) but tomorrow you can probably find me in my classroom or working/planning at home for school!

Who am I kidding....I am about to go work on printing and laminating right now!
