Sight Words ~ Deal of the Day (and freebie)

Sight Words.

It's one of the most important set of words that we as teachers are constantly exposing our students to. These words... some are easy, some are tricky, some words students will struggle with, and some students master them with ease. BUT... our students MUST be exposed to sight words daily if we want to build and create successful readers.

Did you know that 89% of what we read (whether in a magazine, book, newspaper, recipe, etc...) are sight words?!  Tell me these words aren't important to learn!

Now our district uses the Fry's word list as an overall basis of what we should be teaching to our students, however sight words from other lists are thrown in as well if we see a need or importance for them in our grade level.

Don't use the Fry's list?  Over 70% of sight words are found on all sight word lists... so most of the words will overlap!  No worries :)

This past year I wanted to create a routine of sight words that my students would be exposed to throughout the day.   Fun with Fry's was birthed into four sections, a growing bundle.  I broke down the first 100 Fry words into groups of 25 and added each pack as it was completed.

You want GREAT news?!  The bundle is OFFICIALLY COMPLETE!!!!  (can I get an AMEN?!)

I am so excited to have this bundle complete and right at my fingertips throughout the year!

Not sure which words on the Fry's list?  Here is a closer look:
I'm sure you will see MANY of the sight words you teach:

For EACH word.... yes I said EACH!.... you will find the activities below:

(1) A student booklet

Throughout the sight word booklet, you will find tracing, writing, identifying, and building the word.

My students LOVE making their booklets during the week.  They are great for a literacy station, morning work, independent work, fast finishers, etc...

Exposure is what matters!

(2)  No-Prep Printable

Students will trace the word (I usually let them pick crayon or pencil... or we will alternate)
Students will write the word, find the letters that are included in the word, and then build the word.

(3) Word Building Cards

I usually do this activity at the beginning of the week when I introduce the word.  I copy the letters on colored paper, laminate, and put magnetic tape on the back.  This allows for us to easily manipulate the letters and work with the word throughout the week.

(4) Sight Word SONGS
(My Favorite!!)

For each word, I have made up a sight word song that is sung to a familiar tune.  My kids absolutely LOVE these songs!
I have included black/white as well a colored versions for EACH song!

My "Fun with Frys" bundle is complete... with over 1,000 pages of activities for the first 100 Fry words.

With it being Wednesday... this is today's WIN-IT Wednesday!!!   You will have to head on over to my Facebook page or Instagram (you can find these buttons over on the right for direct links!) and have a chance to win!

This pack is also the Deal of the Day!!

You can grab it today for HALF - OFF!!!!

Guided Reading BUNDLES

Happy Hump Day sweet friends!

I have officially been on summer break for TEN days... but that doesn't mean that work stops!  I have been working away trying to finish up some of my favorite TpT projects as well as starting a few new ones!

This past year, as many of you know, I moved from First Grade down to Kindergarten.  I had eight years of first grade materials, resources, and products that would have to pushed to side for a bit.  It was time to dive into the world of creating Kindergarten projects!

I began with creating my monthly Guided Reading packs which include 10-12 literacy stations/activities in each monthly pack.  These packs were designed with guided reading in mind because these activities can be used with your small groups during guided reading, your literacy stations for the other students who are not at your table, your small RTI/Intervention groups, and more!

The GREAT news..... the Kindergarten bundle is now officially complete!   All TEN monthly packs are included in the bundle, however they are sold individually as well.

You can grab the Kindergarten bundle and save.... and it's on sale through FRIDAY!

After posting many pictures throughout the year about product releases, examples of stations, and more.... I have had SOOOO many requests to begin a First Grade Guided Reading bundle!

And..... I took on that next chapter earlier this week.

The first pack is officially posted in my TpT store.   The Guided Reading for First Grade Back to School pack has 10 literacy stations for first grade that are themed and standards-based!

If you are new to my monthly packs, I wanted to show you a quick peek at the stations that you will find inside the newly released First Grade pack!

Here is a look at the TEN stations you will find inside:

Each station includes the title page with directions, which makes for easy storage and organization!

You will also find all of the pieces that belong with the station as well a recording sheet for each station.

You find the individual packet HERE.

It will be 50% off for 48 hours!

Want to stock up on your stations for the entire year?!  Then the First Grade Guided Reading GROWING BUNDLE is for you!

This growing bundle will eventually include ALL 10 monthly packs of literacy stations for First Grade.  Once you purchase the bundle, you will then only have to go back to your "My Purchases" tab in Teachers Pay Teachers and re-download to receive all of the updated and released packs!

You can find the Growing Bundle HERE and it will be
ON SALE through Friday!

I can absolutely say that my students LOVE the activities each month!  I can quickly pull out the activities for my small groups, I can use them for quick assessments during interventions, and I use them daily in my literacy stations for rotations!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Teaching :)
